- What are the problems faced in hot food delivery?
Delivery of hot food takes roughly 20-30 mins. During this time, the food undergoes a lot of changes - heat is lost reducing its temperature, food gets soggy, chewy and less fresh. The holes on the sides may allow contamination of food from the outside as well.
- What causes sogginess of pizza?
Hot food products like pizzas, give off latent heat & steam due to heating and baking. If this water content is not allowed to escape, a portion of the moisture condenses on the food and is reabsorbed by it. Maximum steam is generated below the base of the pizza. With no available exit, the steam bounces back and forth between the box and the dough, before being eventually absorbed by the dough. This causes the base of the pizza to become soggy and tough to chew.
- Is ventilation required in hot food packaging?
Yes. Ventilation is very much required to avoid the pizza or any hot food item from becoming soggy. For the first time in the history of corrugated packaging, the VENTiT Pizza Box is able to provide effective ventilation by letting the excess humidity and moisture out of the box resulting in a less soggy and fresher pizza. The quality of the pizza is improved without making any changes to the ingredients and / or methods of baking.
- Is the VENTiT Pizza Box a better alternative to the conventional box?
Yes. The conventional box has slits or holes on the sides of the box for ventilation. However, both these provisions are ineffective as majority of the steam gets released from the top and bottom of the food and not through the sides. The released steam not finding its way out travels towards the edge of the box during which most of the steam gets condensed, falls back on the food and is reabsorbed by it. As a result, the food gets soggy . In comparison, the VENTiT Pizza Box allows optimum escape of the steam from the top and bottom of the box a voiding condensation and any fear of contamination. This results in less soggy food and a much better overall eating experience.
- Will food packed in the VENTiT Pizza Box be less hot when delivered?
No. The VENTiT Pizza Box only lets the steam release but keeps the temperature intact. It has been experimentally proven that temperature holds longer and better in dry heat conditions than wet heat conditions. Therefore, food remains hotter in the VENTiT Pizza Box.
- Does risk of contamination increase?
Not at all. Although the VENTiT Pizza Box allows the steam to be vented out, the design of the box is such that it does not allow even light to pass through the box, hence there is no fear of contamination.

Yes. The VENTiT Pizza Box is a smart modification of the conventional box. The 2 ply base sheets can be eliminated from the current design, thereby reducing the cost. No additional material is required to manufacture the VENTiT Pizza Box and it requires only a few minor changes in the existing manufacturing process. As such, there is little effect on cost as compared to the benefits that you inherit by investing into it.
